Second shooting is one of my favourite things to do. I love collaborating with other talented and creative people, it’s fun and it is a great way to share ideas + the client gets a variety of different poses, styles and angles in their portfolio!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of working along side Shane from Infocus Design! I have worked with Shane before when he second shot for me last year (you click here to last year’s wedding and here to see my article about second shooting with Shane). I really enjoy working with him because we have the same understanding of the day and mutual respect for each others style and abilities behind the lens and we just have a great time together…at least I had a great time…LOL.
My day started at 9:45am at the groom’s parent’s home in Edmonton. I blew through their front door with the cold winter weather and as soon as the door was closed behind me, I was greeted into Mark’s childhood home with open arms and open hearts! Mark (the groom) was surrounded by his family and when I say surrounded I am not exaggerating; the house was cheerfully bustling with children, siblings, parents, friends, stories, laughter, food, happy tears and everything celebratory! You could feel the love and eager anticipation for Mark and Amy’s wedding vibrating through the energy of everyone in the house.
Every last detail of the wedding day was carefully and thoughtfully considered. Amy who at this point I had not had the pleasure of meeting yet, I determined was one of the most sentimental people in the whole world! I should have figured this out by reading her detailed shot list, but it wasn’t until I saw the hand embroidered handkerchief she made Mark and the wedding gift and card that it really hit home to me. Amy and Mark not only share their love together but with all those who are close to them. Their careful consideration for tradition mixing western wedding traditions with hints of Syrian traditions + incorporating some new traditions and ideas of their own was greatly appreciated by all who witnessed their big day!
As Mark and Amy transitioned from high school sweethearts to husband and wife, they shared their love story with their guests through their vows and a slideshow erupting their guests in laughter and tears!
