“True Alberta elegance at it’s finest”, is just one of many ways I would describe Azuridge Luxury Boutique Hotel. From the moment I drove through their entrance gate to the moment I was greeted by Steve at the front door, I was smitten with this venue. I had made lunch reservations as an excuse to scout out the location and all it had to offer; and this location has a lot to offer its guests!
When you think about Calgary, Alberta, you don’t always think of high-end fashion like that you might find in Toronto. However, Azuridge has taken Alberta’s rustic, ranch appeal and refined it into a luxurious, intimate, elegant experience! You will not find Toronto here; Azuridge is proudly Albertan, but modern, sophisticated and truly awe-inspiring!
As soon as you pass through the entrance gate at Azuridge Estates, all of those busy city distractions are swept away by the grandeur and natural beauty of the thirteen acre Azuridge Estates. The sweet smell of pine lingers in the freshness of the air, and as you breathe your worries melt away. The architecture complements its natural forested surroundings, boasting large exposed timbers, rundle rock, and floor to ceiling windows. The natural light flows effortlessly from the great outdoors to the intimate spaces of the indoors and every inch of this property brilliantly shows off its breathtaking views. In addition to the hotel, you will find two beautiful fountains, a tall water tower with breath-taking panoramic views, an outdoor gazebo style lounge complete with bar and more gorgeous views of the property, the guest suites are all tastefully decorated in different gemstone colours. The entire estate is picture perfect.
For lunch I brought along a good friend and fellow industry peer, Janie, from Flowers by Janie. Not only is she talented, Janie is excellent company too! We opted to sit outside on their patio, knowing all too well that we need to take full advantage of the warm Alberta summers and leave the inside experience for more wintery days.
I love to celebrate. I feel a good day should always be toasted with a long stem of sparkling wine, and today was a good day! We each made our order, I hastily chose the Alaskan king crab cakes accompanied with a petite salad and smoked salmon while Janie went for the juicy lamb meatballs with petite salad. The presentation was masterful and the flavors danced along your palate. Desert was a cheese cake, that I pretty admittedly said I would only eat a sliver of it…however, it was round and not triangular to which you can not have a sliver…Nope you just eat the whole thing like no one is watching, and get one to go for your husband!
After our lunch we were invited to tour around the grounds, which led to a guided tour by Butler Jimmy-Lee. We got a peek inside the Bridal suite with décor that left both Janie and I giggling with delight. If I haven’t already described this place as elegant…well, it takes elegance to another level. Everyone to whom we spoke had a romantic charm. Their hospitality and warm welcomes were gracious and they made us feel completely at home.
